Wondering About Medication During Pregnancy or Breastfeeding?

"Medication decisions during pregnancy and breastfeeding are deeply personal, and there is no one-size-fits-all answer."

We stay current on the latest perinatal psychiatric research and always coordinate with your OB/GYN, midwife, or pediatrician to weigh risks and benefits. Our goal isn't to push medication, it's to give you clear, evidence-based information so you can make the choice that feels right for your family.

Talk to Our PMH-C Certified Specialist

A confidential, no-pressure 10-minute conversation to answer your questions.

Is medication safe during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?

Medication decisions during pregnancy and breastfeeding are individualized. Your provider reviews the available evidence, potential benefits, possible risks, your health history, and your treatment needs to help make an informed decision about your care.

Do I need to stop my current medication if I become pregnant?

Not necessarily. Suddenly stopping can pose risks too. We'll review your regimen and collaborate with your OB/GYN to create a safe, personalized plan.

How do you coordinate care with my OB/GYN or midwife?

With your written permission, we communicate directly with your obstetric care team, sharing only what you approve. You remain in control.

Frequently Asked Questions

Women's Mental Health & Medication

Yes. If your emotions feel overwhelming, persistent, or disruptive to your daily life, even if you're unsure of the label, it's worth talking to a specialist. Many women wait because they fear being "too much" or "not sick enough." You deserve support exactly as you are.
Because medical licensing is state-specific, our providers can only treat patients located in states where they hold an active license. Currently, we are accepting new patients in Texas, Kansas, and Minnesota. Please contact our care team if you are unsure about your location.
With your written permission, we communicate directly with your obstetric care team. We share treatment plans, medication updates, and progress notes (only what you approve) to ensure everyone is aligned. You remain in control of what information is shared.
